Alas...

Why is Basil the only herb I can keep alive? My sage died, my tobacco, which is usually very hearty, died, and my lemon balm died. Maybe the indoor herb garden by my windwo is best suited for the amazing flowering plants I have and the one odd vine-thing plant I inherited because the herbs are not doing what they are supposed to do. I'm talking about living, I mean heaven forbid they actually grow.

On the plus side we did put a live x-mas tree up this year at my friend's house. We will have our own small Christmas here before we go to the mainland for the main event.

I haven't put up my Christmas decor yet.

Two Unrelated Thoughts...

I think the entire male population has gone completely bonkers. Seriously, if you are crazy, please don't talk to me. And if you haven't tried the Mango Juicy Juice, you are missing out. It's delicious.

O Happy Day

I was listening to my favorite study music, Splashdown, when I noticed something new in my iTunes mini-store. This wonderous new treasure was the "Stars and Garters" album by Splashdown. Remastered.

There is one album I would like to in possession of that was never released... "Possibilities". If anyone has an inkling on where to find it, let me know.

Post note: I found them on this site. all free. all wonderful.

Rain

So I see this wall of rain moving in off the mountain, but I don't know if it's just random rain or Flossie.

Current Weather: Mostly cloudy, humid, muggy, not nice.

Tomorrow

Ok, so they said today was the big day and noooooooooo hurricane. Tomorrow they say. tonight and tomorrow. While we did have high wind and surf advisory, I am more concerned about the high UV index. It's supposed to be 10+ tomorrow.
Current weather: cool, cloudy, breezy

Clean House

One of the most important things to have during a natural disaster is a clean house. I don't know why, but I have been cleaning all today and I say it is an important thing to have. Actually Dave helped me bring my water and food in last night and noticed that there was mold on the celing of the bathroom. I was really compelled to get it off.

My roomies' families are ok (on the big island). They aren't in major hurricane zone. Just getting a lot of rain.

Current weather: Sunny, wispy clouds in sky, breezy, and HOT. UV index at 8 so I am trying to stay inside and cancer free.

Emergency Survival Kit

In any extreme natural disaster situation, you should have an emergency kit. It should look like this

Just add ice.
Your kit should include:
*Water
*Non-perishable food
*Non-electric can opener for canned food
*Battery-powered radio
*Matches and Lighters
*Candles
*Playing cards/board games
*Beer
*Ice
*First-aid kit

Current weather: Windy, clear skies, sunny. A very nice day so far.

Hurricane Preparedness

Yesterday I went to the comissary and bought water, canned veggies and soup, and some other provisions. Today to get ready for the hurricane I am getting batteries, ice, and a flashlight. While I have been in Hawaii, I have experienced a flood, an earthquake, and some tornadoes. The two natural disasters I did not want to be in were tsunami and hurricane. One down...

...But if Hurricane Day is anything like Earthquake Day, it will be a gooooood time.

Current weather- Not a cloud in he sky from my window. Breezy.

Emergency plan

As some of you may know hurricane Flossie is headed this way. I talked is over with Kristen's parents and they said I should let my family know my emergency plan in case it is a bad storm (which it isn't supposed to be). I will be staying at a friend's house who lives more inland than I do the day it is supposed to hit. If I am unable to make it to her house I am just going to stay in my building. If the water starts getting higher than my floor (which I doubt will happen, but I'm not in a tsunami safe floor anymore) I will go higher in the building. That's my plan.

Huh...

So here's the big dilemma: For the past four years I have had a very clear goal, graduate from the University of Hawaii. To complete this task I had to obviously remain in Hawaii. Now I HAVE completed it and I feel a little lost. Do I stay or do I go? I know you have read numerous posts about how much Hawaii sucks (and it still has its moments), but I have actually made a semi-good life for myself here. I know I am not going to stay forever, and am wondering if now is the time to leave. If I leave, however, I probably will not come back. Not to live here at least. Additionally, if I leave and don't have a game plan, I run the risk of carting my crap all around the mainland. Now that I don't have a HUGE goal that requires me to stay in Hawaii, I feel more distant from my family, interstate travel, and quality sundries at affordable prices. hmmmmmm.......

NEW APARTMENT!!!

Well, I am now sleeping in my NEW apartment. I still have some of my stuff at the old one, but that will be taken care of this weekend. We got the bed moved out, which is always the most grueling task. Dave came down and helped Tabitha and I move our stuff, so I took both of them out for dinner a Buca di Beppo's. YUM!!! I LOVE the new place and the people I am living with.

Computer Story

Ok. So I don't know if all of you know about my computer story but I just got it back yesterday. Here's the rundown.

April 12~ I have three papers due, one powerpoint presentation, and saturday I have my statewide conference I am in charge of. My computer won't turn on or charge before school. I sit at the Apple store and wait for them to open. The guy opens it up, says it is liquid damage, says it will be $790 and will take about 7-10 days. I said wow, thats steep, but I don't know if I have any other options so ok.

April 29~No computer. March into the Apple store and bitch at three people until I get a manager. They say it is on back order and they re sorry they didn't call me. Yes it will still be $790. I am still upset and won't leave so they tell me I can buy a refreshed macbook (not black like mine) and can return it when I get me computer for the full price. The manager makes the comment "don't spill liquid on it" in a joking manner and I almost bitch-slap her right then.

April 30~Apple recalls the batteries for my computer. The symptoms are not turning on and not charging.

May 1~ I call Apple service center and talk to Curtis to file a formal complaint. He agrees with me it doesn't sound like liquid damage and is not happy with what has happened to me. I tell him I think I am being ripped off. He files the complaint with my Apple store and the service center which has my computer. The same day, some one FINALLY calls me to tell me my computer will be ready the next week. They get the part on Saturday.

May 7~My computer arrives and I return the refreshed MacBook. They tell me they don't refund refreshed computers and I tell them this is extortion, get your manager NOW. I get my money back.

So I have my computer back, they have their computer back. Why am I still pissed off?

On a happy note, people start getting here today!!

I finished one report and have set up a day to finish one of my group projects. I am putting the finishing touches of the Rotaract conference with the help of Chaminade's Rotaract club. Graduation

You may have noticed you have to scroll farther down to get to my posts. The graduation countdown has begun, and you all can view it at the top of the page. I will give updates as things progress. Yesterday I got my cap and gown, ordered my announcements, and registered to walk...again (apparently you have to register in about 3 different places). Today I am getting my hair cut in the morning and going straight to the studio. It kind of all just fell in place.

HI!!!

So I know I've ben gone a while so here's the abbreviated update.
I moved into the new place. It's pretty cool.
I started my internship at the UH Women's Clinic. More on that later.
This is my last semester. I actually have to go into the real world now.
I got older. The big 22. Pictures on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/xtremegeorgia/
Still with my personal trainer. Have lost 25 lbs since August. I look good!
Still at Bubba's and Vinos. Have been part of the crowd pushing for more healthful options on Bubba menu. Succeeded in my own way by bringing back the plain shrimp with cocktail sauce.
Joined Safety Tem at Bubba's. Mostly for the bigger discount, but also because I love safety.
Eric gets back from Iraq this week in time for the Vanilla Ice concert.
Went to pro-bowl, yay!
Didn't ditch Dave with the truck after he helped me move. I know you all had your fingers crossed.
That's about it for now.
